- Seen for endometrial ablation

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb (the endometrium) grows in other parts of the body, most commonly on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the lining of the pelvis. As these cells respond to your monthly hormonal cycle, they thicken and bleed; however, unlike a period, this blood has no way to escape the body. This process leads to inflammation, severe pelvic pain, and the formation of scar tissue or adhesions that can cause internal organs to fuse together.

While the NHS reports that endometriosis affects approximately 1 in 10 women in the UK, it remains notoriously difficult to diagnose, often taking years of symptomatic suffering. Common symptoms include:

Severe period pain that interferes with daily activities.

Chronic pelvic pain and lower back pressure.

Pain during or after intercourse (dyspareunia).

Heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding.

Fertility challenges and fatigue.
